Jay “Sensei” Brown

Hi, I’m Jay.

I’ve spent over 25 years around firearms, including eight years in the U.S. military, two as a Military Contractor, and more than 15 years in federal service working in counterterrorism.

That’s the serious part.

The reason I started Range Buddies is much simpler: I like helping regular people feel comfortable around firearms.

A lot of gun training can feel intimidating, overly tactical, or way more complicated than it needs to be. That’s not my style.

I’m an NRA-certified Pistol and Rifle Instructor, and I focus on practical, patient, down-to-earth instruction for beginners, new gun owners, and anyone who wants to become safer and more confident.

You do not need prior experience. You do not need to know all the terminology. And you definitely do not need to pretend you understand something when you don’t.

Ask questions. Make mistakes. Learn.

Safety is serious. Learning doesn’t have to be miserable.

My goal is for you to leave class feeling more confident, more knowledgeable, and a lot less intimidated than when you walked in.

And hopefully, you’ll have some fun along the way.
